An interview with the renowned international scholar Michael Grenfell on the philosophy and method of the French social theorist Pierre Bourdieu. The article addresses the science that Bourdieu constructs and what characterises it. Phenomenology and Anthropology are discussed along side reference to Kant, Husserl, Merleau Ponty, Heidegger, Bachelard, etc. Topics also cover art, language, education and the nature of Bourdieu's reflexivity. Participant objectivation is analysed in terms of the nature of the relationship between the subject and object.

Abstract
