This dataset supports the thesis entitled Navigating tensions in children's safeguarding: A Longitudinal Qualitative Study Examining Practitioner Responses to Tensions in Multi-Agency Safeguarding Processes AWARDED BY: University of Southampton DATE OF AWARD: 2024 DESCRIPTION OF THE DATA This data consists of transcripts from semi-structured interviews and audio diary recordings. The themes explored in the interviews concern pressures within children's safeguarding before and during the COVID-19 pandemic, challenges with multi-agency working arrangements, concerns for children's safety during the pandemic and working disruptions due to the pandemic. There was two stages to data collection. Stage one data consists of six transcripts from interviews with senior managers involved in children's safeguarding. Interviews took place between September and December 2019. Stage two data consists of three waves. Stage Two, Wave one data consists of 19 transcripts from semi structured interviews with delivery level workers involved in children's safeguarding. The interviews took place remotely between April and July 2020. Stage Two, Wave two data consists of 9 transcript documents, which includes 28 transcribed recordings from audio diaries sent by nine participants between June and October 2020. Stage Two, Wave three data consists of 14 interview transcripts from semi structured interviews with delivery level workers involved in children's safeguarding. The interviews took place remotely between November and January 2021. The transcripts are close to verbatim, with some duplication and filler words not included. Emphasis is indicated with use of bold font or italics.
