While film music has been researched for about a hundred years, in recent years in a more systematic manner. However, the subject of enigma in film has had very little scrutiny, despite music being a significant component in many enigmatic moments in films. This thesis investigates how film music creates or intensifies enigma in films, focusing essentially on enigmatic manifestations of religion, mythology, the paranormal, and the inexplicable.
