Precipitate coarsening in multicomponent systems
Precipitate coarsening in multicomponent systems
The Gibbs-Thomson effect was extended to multicomponent systems allowing changes in chemical potential and composition shifts of the precipitate coarsening. Expressions to obtain composition shifts due to capillarity were presented with respect to the chemical potential shifts of the precipitate phase. The expressions were applied to calculate the precipitate coarsening kinetics in multicomponent systems. The expressions showed dependence on the solution thermodynamics followed by the continuous phase.

Abstract
The Gibbs-Thomson effect was extended to multicomponent systems allowing changes in chemical potential and composition shifts of the precipitate coarsening. Expressions to obtain composition shifts due to capillarity were presented with respect to the chemical potential shifts of the precipitate phase. The expressions were applied to calculate the precipitate coarsening kinetics in multicomponent systems. The expressions showed dependence on the solution thermodynamics followed by the continuous phase.
