Carbon capture, usage and storage (CCUS): nonpipeline transport and cross-border CO2 networks
Carbon capture, usage and storage (CCUS): nonpipeline transport and cross-border CO2 networks
A submission from the University of Southampton Marine and Maritime Institute (SMMI) with regards to the on-going Department for Energy Security and Net Zero consultation on Carbon Capture, Usage and Storage (CCUS): non-pipeline transport and cross-border CO2 networks. Our response principally derives from three reports we produced as part of the UKRI-EPSRC Industrial Decarbonisation Research and Innovation Centre IDRIC Project #50, CO2 – Ports to Pipelines (CO2P2P) that investigated, from energy, cost, feasibility, regulatory and public acceptance points of view, the shipping of CO2 from industrial regions without local permanent geostorage to ports where offshore CO2 geostorage was being developed.
