Racial discrimination at work
This chapter focuses on racial discrimination at work by examining theories that help comprehend deep-seated societal racial prejudices and the role they play in racial discrimination at work. This is done by examining the role of organisations in the institutionalisation of racism. The chapter begins by defining key terms before delving into several theories and perspectives. It then discusses the responses to challenges of overcoming prejudices through a discourse of employment policies and work practices. A case study is provided, to which some of the theories are applied, and the effectiveness of policies and work practices is considered in the context of this case study.
