All-silicon optical modulators and detectors
All-silicon optical modulators and detectors

Optical modulators and detectors are essential components for photonic circuits serving a range of different applications. Silicon based devices that can be formed using CMOS compatible processing allow the potential for high-volume and low-cost chip manufacturing. Here our recent progress in both silicon based optical modulators and detectors is presented, including a universal component that can serve both functionalities.
