Dataset DOI: 10.5258/SOTON/D3381 ReadMe Author: Dominique Townsend, University of Southampton 0000-0002-0502-6061 This dataset supports the thesis entitled 'Mixed sand and gravel beach morphodynamics: observations and modelling across the nearshore' AWARDED BY: University of Southampton DATE OF AWARD: 2025 DESCRIPTION OF THE DATA This PURE dataset contains the data collected as part of the PhD project 'Mixed sand and gravel beach morphodynamics: observations and modelling across the nearshore'. Further information on each dataset is provided in an excel sheet within each subfolder. This dataset contains: 1. Bathymetry and topographic profile surveys from the study site (2020 to 2022). 2. Particle Size Distribution data for three locations within the study site: the upper (subaerial) beach, the transverse bar area (subtidal) and the array area (subtidal). 3. XBand Radar surface roughness images. Date of data collection: All data was collected within the PhD period (2019-2024). Information about geographic location of data collection: All data is from the Pevensey Bay study site (50.810692, 0.354068) Licence: CC-BY Related projects/Funders: The PhD studentship was funded by NERC INSPIRE DTP (NE/S007210/1), the Graduate School of the National Oceanography Centre, Southampton, and the Environment Agency. This work was supported by the Environment Agency through the project: “Delivering Legacy from the Pevensey Bay Coastal Defence Scheme (PI: Kassem, H.; Contract: 201-09-SD10).
