Readme file for 'Dataset for the University of Southampton doctoral thesis entitled "Sitting comfort in next-generation cars: Theory, modelling, and experimentation"' Dataset DOI: 10.5258/SOTON/D3382 Author: Francesco D'Amore, University of Southampton, ORCID ID 0000-0002-6768-4043 This dataset supports the University of Southampton doctoral thesis entitled "Sitting comfort in next-generation cars: Theory, modelling, and experimentation". Awarding institution: University of Southampton, United Kingdom Year of award: 2025 DESCRIPTION OF THE DATA The dataset contains data corresponding to Figure 18, Figure 19, and Figure 20 of the University of Southampton doctoral thesis entitled "Sitting comfort in next-generation cars: Theory, modelling, and experimentation". The dataset is contained in a compressed archive organised in 4 folders. The folder '0_f' contains one TXT file. This file provides a column-vector of numerical values of frequency expressed in unit Hz. The folders '1_Tmod', '2_Targ', and '3_C' contain 576 TXT files each. A file in the folders '1_Tmod', '2_Targ', and '3_C' provides a column-vector of numerical values of a frequency-domain quantity (respectively, transmissibility modulus expressed in unit one, transmissibility argument expressed in unit rad, and coherence expressed in unit one). Plots can be obtained by using the file in the folder '0_f' for abscissa values and a file in the folders '1_Tmod', '2_Targ', and '3_C' for ordinate values. The key to interpret filenames in the folders '1_Tmod', '2_Targ', and '3_C' is as follows. - A filename has five fields separated by underscore characters '_' and followed by the filename extension '.txt'. - The first field of a filename specifies the frequency-domain quantity (Tmod, Targ, or C). - The second field of a filename specifies the vibration magnitude (0d28w, 0d45w, 0d71w, or 1d12w). - The third field of a filename specifies the sitting configuration (ES, RS, TD, or WE). - The fourth field of a filename specifies the participant (P01, P02, P03, P04, P05, P06, P07, P08, P09, P10, P11, or P12). - The fifth field of a filename specifies the replicate (R1, R2, or R3).
