Birefringent-filter-assisted actively Q-switched tuneable erbium-doped fibre ring laser
We have studied a narrow linewidth, actively Q-switched erbium-doped fibre ring laser emitting at ~1.55 µm. Combined use of Lyot and tuneable filters allowed operation over 33nm, with a minimum linewidth of 65pm. Pulses were observed at repetition rates between 9 kHz and 166 kHz, with a minimum pulse length of 450 ns.
