READ ME File for 'Response of downstream moving European eel (Anguilla anguilla) to hydrodynamic conditions created by channel constrictions' Dataset DOI: TO BE GENERATED Date that the file was created: December 2024 ------------------- GENERAL INFORMATION ------------------- ReadMe Author: ANDREW VOWLES, University of Southampton [ORCID ID: https://orcid.org/0000-0001-8253-5938] Data were collected for research funded by the Engineering and Physical Sciences Research Council (EPSRC) under grant reference: EP/N005961/1. Date of data collection: 09/12/2015 - 27/11/2016 Location of data collection: Hydraulic flume facility, University of Southampton Science Park (Chilworth, Hampshire, UK) This dataset supports the publication: AUTHORS: Andrew S. Vowles, Paolo Vezza, Costantino Manes, Isabella Garzia, Paul S. Kemp TITLE: Response of downstream moving European eel (Anguilla anguilla) to hydrodynamic conditions created by channel constrictions JOURNAL: Journal of Ecohydraulics -------------------- DATA & FILE OVERVIEW -------------------- This ReadMe file describes the Data file accompanying the above publication and two supplementary videos. For any queries contact asv104@soton.ac.uk. The dataset (Excel file) contains: 1. Excel file "Sheet 1" contains treatment data from the flume study with eels, including results for behavioural response and delay metrics. Columns include the year, date, treatment conditions (e.g. constriction design and discharge regime), eel length and mass, behavioural response on entering the observation and first encountering the channel constrictions, and time to pass. 2. Supplementary video 1 shows a "Rejection" behaviour exhibited by an eel as it encounters the smooth tapered channel constriction. 3. Supplementary video 2 shows a "Rejection" behaviour exhibited by an eel as it encounters the sharp angled channel constriction.
