Methodological paper on mspree considering multiple data sources
Methodological paper on mspree considering multiple data sources
Effective policy making requires of accurate figures of key socio demographic indicators for highly disaggregated geographies which typically go beyond what can be delivered using exclusively survey data and standard survey sampling methods. When the outcome of interest is defined by a categorical variable, as in the case of labour force or poverty rates, it is typical to use a Small Area Estimation method within the Structure Preserving (SPREE) approach to obtain appropriate estimates of such figures. This deliverable addresses the issue of how to combine several ‘proxy’ data sources within the SPREE approach, contributing to a better use of existing data sources and hence offering new possibilities for the research on poverty and living conditions as per the aim of work Package 8.
