This dataset contains: Training and validation data used for 4 networks: - Large synthetically trained network using 2e5 training sets Comparison networks for different training sets - Small synthetic network 1600 data sets - Experimental network 800 data sets - Hybrid trained network with 1600 datasets (800 experimental sets, 800 synthetic sets) The files (contained in ZIP folder) are as follows: **LargeSynthetic_TrainingData** Training data for network used in figure 3 **ReducedSynthetic_TrainingData** Training data for network trained using purely synthetic data figure 4a **Exp_TrainingData** Training data for network trained using purely experimental data, figure 4b **Hybrid_TrainingData** Training data for hybrid trained network, figure 4c **Synthetic_ValidationData** Synthetic validation data, figure 4 **ExpOOD_ValidationData** Out-of-distribution (OOD) experimental validation data, figure 4 [All files are .m files which require MATLAB to run, The author used MATLAB 2023b] Dates of data collection: Oct-Dec 2024 ------------------------------------------- DatasetChapter3: Liquid crystals (LC) ------------------------------------------- Data for cross polariser intensity measurements of three different liquid crystals: 1825, 1929, 6CHBT. Data was taken using OMPA (optical multi-parameter analyser). Code cannot be provided here but can be licensed from sopht-lc@soton.ac.uk. This dataset contains 6 folders: - 1 folder containing 4 sub-folders correspond to LC 6CHBT investigation - Wedge cell, 10um cell BB1, 10um cell NP13, and 8um cell NP3 - 1 folder is LC 1929 investigation: containing 2 sets of Static, rot vis and A4A5 measurements for Red and 1 set for blue - 1 folder is LC 1825 investigation: containing 2 sets of Static, rot vis and A4A5 measurements for Red and 1 set for blue [Folders indicate file types. MATLAB files were run using MATLAB2023b. Files best run using OMPA code, licence can be obtained by contacting soft photonic systems at sopht-lc@soton.ac.uk] ------------------------------------------- DatasetChapter4: Metamaterials/All optical switching paper ------------------------------------------- Data here was used to generate figures published in: DOI: 10.1364/OE.488360. The indicated figure corresponds to the publication provided or Figure 4.12 within thesis. They relate to the in-plane switching analytical model used to investigate the hybrid LC/metamaterial systems discussed throughout the thesis. This dataset contains: 3 MATLAB files which contain the models used to generate the figure 4 plots and the raw data The files are as follows: **Figure4_RawData** contains the raw data from which the figure 4 plots were made. **Figure4a** MATLAB file for the model used to generate figure 4a **Figure4b** MATLAB file for the model used to generate figure 4b **Figure4c** MATLAB file for the model used to generate figure 4c [All .m files require MATLAB to run, The author used MATLAB 2023b] Dates of data collection: 4 January 2023 ------------------------------------------- DatasetChapter5: Making LC twitch paper. ------------------------------------------- This data supports the publication: DOI: 10.1364/OE.549912 and chapter 5 of the thesis. This dataset contains: 2 xlsx files: ResonancePowerTrack.xlsx - THz-TDS calibration data for the resonance power track plot. This corresponds to Fig 5 (b) in the paper. EmitterBiasResults.xlsx - Optical transmission data for the hybrid cell for resonant and non-resonant modes. This corresponds to Fig 5 (c) and (d) 13 Matlab datafiles: xxpp_date.mat - THz-TDS data for resonance mode of hybrid cell for different emitter bias qRef_date.mat - Empty quartz cell reference required for THz-TDS extraction. Files contain metadata, key sets are the tAxis and sAxis providing the timedomain and signal data 1 Code file test.m - This MATLAB script will perform windowing and and FFT on the THz-TDS .mat files and plot the THz-TDS data for each emitter bias value on a single plot. The intention is for this to be run in separate folders for the resonance and non-resonance data The resonance data corresponds to the plot made in Fig. 5 (a).
