READ ME File For Dataset for "Envisioning the 'Ideal School' for Mental Health: An Exploration of the Mediators Underpinning Universal Interventions, and Empowering Pupil Voice to Shape School Systems" Dataset DOI: 10.5258/SOTON/D3600 ReadMe Author: Emma Woozley, University of Southampton This dataset supports the thesis entitled "Envisioning the 'Ideal School' for Mental Health: An Exploration of the Mediators Underpinning Universal Interventions, and Empowering Pupil Voice to Shape School Systems" AWARDED BY: University of Southampton DATE OF AWARD: 2025 DESCRIPTION OF THE DATA The data are comprised of transcribed audio recordings of three focus groups consisting of between four and eight pupils. Each focus group took place at a different school. The focus groups lasted between 90 and 120 minutes each, including a short break around halfway through, and took place at school during the school day. Participants were asked to draw and talk about their 'non-ideal' and 'ideal' schools for mental health and wellbeing. They are also asked to scale how their current school compared to their ideal and non-ideal schools. The audio recordings were transcribed by hand. This dataset contains: 3 x focus group transcripts Date of data collection: Data were collected between July 2024 and January 2025.
