Hyperpigmentation of the pinnae following otoplasty

We report the case of a 40-year-old Asian gentleman who following a bilateral otoplasty, usig the anterior scoring technique, developed ulceration and subsequent deep pigmentation of the skin overlying the anterior part of the pinnae. This is the first report in the literature of such a complication. The theories of aetiogenesis are explored.
