READ ME File For 'Dataset in support of the thesis 'Modelling sound generation in pianos'' Dataset DOI: 10.5258/SOTON/D3391 ReadMe Author: Pablo Martin Miranda Valiente, University of Southampton,https://orcid.org/0000-0002-5939-7554 This dataset supports the thesis entitled 'Modelling sound generation in pianos' DESCRIPTION OF THE DATA This dataset contains: Several audio files with the format of MMX_NN_T_Model where 'X' is the number of the file 'NN' is the note, which can be C2 or C4 'T' is the term that was sampled, e.g: Fb which is the force transmitted to the soundboard, vk which is velocity at the middle of the soundboard 'Model' is the soundboard model used which can be SS: simply supported string (no soundboard) KV: Kelvin-Voigt soundboard model consisting in a spring and a damper minimal: Minimal modal model containing a limited amount of soundboard modes FE: Finite element soundboard model For the duplex scaling files the format is: MMX_NN_T_cdY where 'Y' is the coefficient of the duplex scaling segment used For the files MM16-MM19 the format of the name is: MMX_T_coupl where 'X' is the number of the file 'T' is the term, it can be FL (longitudinal force) or FT (transverse force) 'coupl' is the coupling described in Chapter 8 of the thesis, which can be one-way (transverse to longitudinal, TL)or two-way (crosscoupling).
