READ ME File For 'Threat Conditioning in Anxiety Disorders - Kane Steggles - Anonymised Thesis Dataset' Dataset DOI: https://doi.org/10.5258/SOTON/D3674 ReadMe Author: Kane Steggles, University of Southampton ORCID ID: https://orcid.org/0009-0004-3577-3000 This dataset supports the thesis entitled 'Threat Conditioning in Anxiety-Related Disorders: An Empirical Study and Systematic Review'. AWARDED BY: Univeristy of Southampton DATE OF AWARD: 2025 DESCRIPTION OF THE DATA This anonymised dataset contains data associated with a student sample taken from the University of Southampton. The participants completed the following self-report psychometric measures: - Intolerance of Uncertainty Scale (IUS-12) - Trait Anxiety Shortened (STAI-T) - Generalised Anxiety Disorder Questionnaire (GAD-7) - Patient Health Questionnaire (PHQ-9) - Obsessive Compulsive Inventory - Revised (OCI-R) - Panic Disorder Severity Scale (PDSS-SR) - Social Interaction Phobia Scale (SIPS) - Posttraumatic Stress Disorder Checklist for DSM-5 (PCL-5) Additionally, participants partook in a two-day Pavlovian conditioning task which produced extra data: - Skin Conductant Response data (measured in Microsiemens; µS) - Anxiety ratings (Likert: 0 - 100) - Expectancy ratings (Likert: 0 - 100) How data was collected: Participants were recruited via word-of-mouth and via the Psychology department's research participant management system: SONA. Using SONA, Psychology students partake in research that grants them credits used within their undergraduate degrees or they are financially compensated for their time. Date was collected in a laboratory on Southampton University's Highfield campus. This study was granted ethical approval by the Psychology ethics sub-committee within the University of Southampton Research Ethics Committee (UREC; Ethical Approval Number: 78272). Participants gave full informed consent and were debriefed post-experiment. All data was anonymised prior to analysis.
