Shared inflammatory biomarkers in depression and cardiovascular diseases: an umbrella review

Shared inflammatory biomarkers in depression and cardiovascular diseases: an umbrella review
Shared inflammatory biomarkers in depression and cardiovascular diseases: an umbrella review
CVDs and depression are among the leading contributors to the global disease burden, as highlighted in the World Health Organization (2023) report. Depression is frequently comorbid with almost all forms of CVDs, amplifying both morbidity and mortality risks. The link between these two conditions is, in part, driven by shared physiological mechanisms, among which inflammation is a key process. Despite substantial research identifying inflammatory biomarkers associated with depression or CVDs, studies examining the shared inflammatory biomarkers in both diseases remain scarce.
