Editorial. Safeguarding: every nurse's business
Safeguarding is at the heart of child care and health policy in the UK. In England, core standard 2 of the Department of Health’s flagship health-care policy document, Standards for Better Health (DH, 2004), establishes child safeguarding principles which cover all NHS health care provided for child patients, and which are emulated elsewhere. The English national service framework (DH/Department for Education and Skills (DfES), 2004), and similar policy documents produced in the other countries of the UK, have also been specifically developed for children and young people.
