Sustainable fashion supply chain management: environmental focus on Bangladesh

Sustainable fashion supply chain management: environmental focus on Bangladesh
Sustainable fashion supply chain management: environmental focus on Bangladesh
This research explores the evolving best practices and implementation strategies for sustainability in the upstream fashion supply chain, from the perspective of a developing country (Bangladesh). Using an exploratory multiple case study, followed by content and thematic analysis, we provide insights from suppliers from different tiers and their roles in fashion manufacturing operations. We reveal a wide range of sustainable practices and implementation strategies in manufacturing. We also highlight the poor practices of suppliers and identify key barriers while highlighting drivers that can promote the adoption of sustainable practices. We discuss the implications for both theory and practice, highlighting the necessity for effective implementation strategies as well as technical, financial, and external support to achieve sustainability in fashion manufacturing. Overall, this chapter provides an in-depth analysis of sustainable supply chain management and offers actionable insights with recommendations for industry stakeholders (including brands, retailers, producers, policymakers) and researchers.
