Optimised-geometry non-colinear upconversion detection using MgO:PPLN
We report a novel non-colinear upconversion detection geometry operating in the 2 um wavelength range via sum-frequency generation in MgO-doped periodically-poled lithium niobate. Spectral and spatial filtering is utilised for noise mitigation, permitting low-light operation. We further present progress toward a similar scheme for mid-infrared detection, enabling use of high-performance near-infrared detectors at longer wavelengths.
