A series of three reclaimed Ladybird books, original titled 'British birds and their nests', which originally depicted British wild birds and their nest as colour illustrations. The artist obtained two copies of each book and carefully removed the illustrated elements containing flora, foliage and landscape from each of the donor books. These elements were then collaged into the recipient book as an attempt to 'remove' any presence of the birds. Each book was retitled, and the cover reprinted to replace 'nests' with 'Decline' thus commenting on the gradual decline of the population of British wild birds in recent years.

Abstract

A series of three reclaimed Ladybird books, original titled 'British birds and their nests', which originally depicted British wild birds and their nest as colour illustrations. The artist obtained two copies of each book and carefully removed the illustrated elements containing flora, foliage and landscape from each of the donor books. These elements were then collaged into the recipient book as an attempt to 'remove' any presence of the birds. Each book was retitled, and the cover reprinted to replace 'nests' with 'Decline' thus commenting on the gradual decline of the population of British wild birds in recent years.
