It also includes Semi-Structured Interviews (in docx). These have been used in the thesis titled Socio-Economic Value Creation in Tribal Nations: A Microcredit Investigation This dataset contains: First, a dataset from MixMarkets (a World Bank Data Bank Provider) that provides financial data on Microfinance Institutions (MFIs). The dataset includes (the MFI name (MFI), Country (Country), Continent (Continent), social identity intensity (Tribalism Index), Year (Year), the number of borrowers (Nborrowers), number of Loan Officers (NLoanOfficers), number of board members (Nboard), revenues of MFIs (Revenue), the level of female membership in boards(Fboard (%)), staff (Fstaff (%)), loan officers (FLoanOfficer (%)), managers (Fmanagers (%)) and borrowers(Fborrowers (%)). The dataset also includes socio-economic controls. These are (GDP per Capita (GDP Per Capita), Real Interest Rate (Real Interest Rate(%)), inflation (Inflation), and corruption (WGI_ControlOfCorruption)). The dataset also includes firm-level controls. These are (the log of total assets of MFIs (log_Total_Assets), and the log of Gross Loan Portfolio of MFIs (log_Gross_Loan_Portfolio)). The data contains firm level information relating to the percentage of females in boards, management, staff, and loan officers in MFIs. The data also includes the distribution of female borrowers. The data also involves the tribalism index as conceptualised by Jackson and Deckard (2012). The controls included in the dataset include the Revenue created by each MFI, the GDP per Capita, the Real Interest Rate(%), and, Inflation of each country where the MFIs are domiciled. Second, Transcripts of interviews collected during the primary data collection stage of the thesis Date of data collection: 01/01/2021 to 30/07/2024 Information about geographic location of data collection: World Bank Data covers Microfinance Institutions around the globe. Interviews were conducted in Nairobi, Kenya.
