Antitrafficking: prevention, protection, prosecution, partnerships, property

Antitrafficking: prevention, protection, prosecution, partnerships, property
Antitrafficking: prevention, protection, prosecution, partnerships, property
This chapter is premised on the development of practices that break from the established 3Ps and 4Ps approaches. The proposed 5Ps framework draws on a fifth element, which will be further developed in this chapter. The key premise of this is that private property relations need to also be included in a holistic approach that actually addresses the root causes of trafficking exploitation. This approach would seek to address the unequal distribution of resources, fair taxation, and welfare provision, as well as decolonise the knowledge inflicted and borne upon racialised bodies. This approach suggests that government and third sector initiatives need to be acutely attentive to the workforce implications of current neoliberal laws and policies. Particularly, the widening power imbalance between employers and employees needs to be tackled as a matter of priority and embedded as a policy focus in antitrafficking actions.
