Poetry and mentoring: UK Poetry in Partnership 1960-2020
This monograph explores the transformational role of mentoring in British poetry since 1960, tracing its development through the growth of creative writing in HEIs, independent poetry presses, schemes supported by literary festivals, publishers, and arts funders, and individual poetic friendships. Drawing on a range of sources, from publishing archives to personal interviews, it considers how the conceptual language of mentoring first developed in social sciences can be adapted to uncover the hidden and dispersed history of mentoring in modern and contemporary poetry.
