Perceived discomfort was measured after 20 minutes of collar application using an 11-point numeric rating scale. Range of motion measurements were made using a digital inclinometer with the participant in a supine position. Pressure was measured at the device-skin interface at the occiput, mandibles and chin using Tactilus Free Form sensor system, with V series 10x10 mm square sensors (Sensor Products Inc., Madison US). Temperature and relative humidity were measured using combined sensors (SHT75; Sensirion AG, Switzerland), at the device-skin interface. Skin hydration was measured using a Corneometer (MPA9, Courage & Khazaka, Germany), after 20 minutes of collar application. Transepidermal water loss (TEWL) was measured using a Tewameter (MPA9, Courage & Khazaka, Germany), after 20 minutes of collar application. Methods for processing the data: All measurements were repeated three times for which mean values were then calculated and recorded in this dataset. Software- or Instrument-specific information needed to interpret the data, including software and hardware version numbers: Standards and calibration information, if appropriate: Environmental/experimental conditions: Testing was performed in a controlled ambient temperature of 20-22 degrees centigrade and relative humidity of 30-40%.
