How ramp metering system impacts merging traffics
This paper reports a case study of a ramp metering system (using ALINEA control strategy) in the southeast of the UK. The specific feature of this study is that it investigated the impact of ramp metering on the detailed driving behaviour of motorists. The results reported in this paper focus on the impacts of ramp metering on the merging vehicles from slip road.
