Karl Springenschmid: Der Waldgänger. Rechtfertigungsprosa im Biedermeierstil?
This essay shows how the Austrian writer Karl Springenschmid whose novels were published in big print runs during the National Socialist era and who was an important Nazi in the local politics of Salzburg retrospectively glorifies his poitical involvement in his post-war autobiography *Der Waldgaenger* by using a relatively little known novel by Adalbert Stifter as a model.
