This book is an up-to-date account of those key issues with which trainee science teachers should be familiar in today's climate of persistent educational challenge and change. In this chapter, some key ideas relating to life processes and living things are discussed and exemplified. Classroom examples are presented in the context of research evidence about how children interact with the living world and the implications for practice are considered.
