Simple technique for compensation of stress-induced birefringence in high-power diode-end-pumped lasers
A simple scheme employing a single quarter-wave plate is used to compensate for the effects of thermally-induced stress-birefringence in a diode-bar-pumped Nd:YAG laser operating at 946nm, resulting in 2.9W of linearly polarised output with M2 < 1.2.
