Novel polarimetric fibre device for interrogating white-light interferometers
A novel, in-line, polarimetric fibre interrogator for 'white-light' interferometry is described. It consists of two equal lengths of polarisation-maintaining fibre, spliced with their polarisation axes orthogonal. The interferometer path difference is thermally tuned over the free-space equivalent of ± 180µm to allow matching to a remote sensor interferometer.

Abstract

A novel, in-line, polarimetric fibre interrogator for 'white-light' interferometry is described. It consists of two equal lengths of polarisation-maintaining fibre, spliced with their polarisation axes orthogonal. The interferometer path difference is thermally tuned over the free-space equivalent of ± 180µm to allow matching to a remote sensor interferometer.
