Efficient Nd:YAG laser end-pumped by a 20W diode-laser-bar
We describe efficient cw operation of a Nd:YAG laser, longitudinally-pumped by a 20W cw diode-laser-bar using a novel pump re-shaping and focusing scheme. Fundamental-transverse-mode operation at 1.064µm with output powers of 6W (unpolarised) and 5.3W (linearly polarised) for 14.4W of incident pump power have been demonstrated.

Abstract

We describe efficient cw operation of a Nd:YAG laser, longitudinally-pumped by a 20W cw diode-laser-bar using a novel pump re-shaping and focusing scheme. Fundamental-transverse-mode operation at 1.064µm with output powers of 6W (unpolarised) and 5.3W (linearly polarised) for 14.4W of incident pump power have been demonstrated.
