When the Finniston Report was published it was greeted with enthusiasm by most engineers, both for its own sake and for the opportunity it presented for a radical reorganization of the engineering profession. Implementation of 'Finniston' has largely had to await the formation of The Engineering Council, which recently has taken over some of the activities of the Council of Engineering Institutions, in particular the Board for Engineering Registration, and is clearly intended to be the 'engine of change'. ...........
