Les prediction of installed jet flow and noise with experimental validation
Les prediction of installed jet flow and noise with experimental validation
Extra noise is introduced when jets are installed under a solid surface. In the paper, Large-Eddy Simulation (LES) has been performed to investigate the installation effects. The simulations on two jet configurations are presented: one isolated jet and one installed jet with L/D = 4 and H/D = 1. The LES is compared with experimental data from both hot wire and microphone measurements. Good agreement has been achieved between LES and experimental data on flow statistics, near-field spectra, space-time correlations and far-field sound spectra. The installed effects are also discussed from the perspectives of flows and acoustics.

Abstract
Extra noise is introduced when jets are installed under a solid surface. In the paper, Large-Eddy Simulation (LES) has been performed to investigate the installation effects. The simulations on two jet configurations are presented: one isolated jet and one installed jet with L/D = 4 and H/D = 1. The LES is compared with experimental data from both hot wire and microphone measurements. Good agreement has been achieved between LES and experimental data on flow statistics, near-field spectra, space-time correlations and far-field sound spectra. The installed effects are also discussed from the perspectives of flows and acoustics.
