Optimum elastic design of prestressed concrete structures : with particular reference to statical indeterminacy

The thesis illustrates a general study for prestressed concrete structures. The main object is to develop an optimum solution for statically indeterminate prestressed concrete structures and provide an improved approach for the design engineer. A quadratic programming method is used to develop this approach. A simple set of expressions is developed for the elastic design of both statically determinate and indeterminate prestressed concrete structures. A computer program for the design of indeterminate prestressed concrete structures has been developed based on this analysis. A brief experimental study was carried out on both the elastic and ultimate stages of statically indeterminate prestressed concrete frames and arches.
