Dataset supporting the University of Southampton Doctoral Thesis "Assessment of speech recognition and quality of life as outcome measures in otitis media with effusion in Arabic children"
Dataset supporting the University of Southampton Doctoral Thesis "Assessment of speech recognition and quality of life as outcome measures in otitis media with effusion in Arabic children" University of Southampton, 2024. The dataset includes the test results of participants performing tests on MATLAB software and response scores on questionnaires. Pilot, Experiment 1.A, Experiment 1.B, Experiment 2, Experiment 4: Participants performed a speech recognition test on MATLAB, the results were automatically recorded in the software, and copied in Excel. Experiment 3, Experiment 4: Participants were asked to fill and electronic form (Google form) of the questionnaire. The data was recorded automatically and copied to Excel. This dataset contains: The dataset Excel document contains six sheets, each sheet contains the dataset of an experiment 1- Pilot study 2- Experiment 1.A: Assessment of the homogeneity of the words in the PAAST SiQ using the method of constant stimuli (MoCS) 3- Experiment 1.B: Equalising the intelligibility of the speech stimuli of the Paediatric Arabic Auditory Speech Test (PAAST) using Interleaved Adaptive Procedure 4- Experiment 2: Measuring the effect of OME- related simulated conductive hearing loss on the PAAST SiQ 5- Experiment 3: Developing an Arabic quality- of-life questionnaire (AOM6) for children with Otitis media 6- Experiment 4: Measuring speech recognition and QoL using the PAAST SiQ and Arabic OM6, respectively, in Arabic children with OME Information about geographic location of data collection: data was collected in Jeddah, Saudi Arabia Licence: CC-BY Related projects/Funders: King Abdul-Aziz University
