The European Maritime Data Management (EMDM) project aimed to study new applications, functionality and to propose specifications and standards for enhanced Voyage Data Recorders (VDRs) and Electronic Logbooks (ELBs). This was performed by a consortium of European manufacturers and research institutions and reviewed by an Expert Group comprising senior European representatives from owner/operator, manufacturer, investigation, administration, trade union, legal and insurance.
