Fibre vibrometer with three-phase fringe-analysis

Fibre vibrometer with three-phase fringe-analysis
Fibre vibrometer with three-phase fringe-analysis
A fiber-remoted, non-contact, optical surface-vibrometer which uses no source wavelength modulation is reported. Three-phase fringe sampling using a 3 x 3 fiber coupler and processing using a digital processor allow automatic multi-fringe unwrapping, sub-fringe interpolation and insensitivity to interferogram intensity and contrast variations. A noise-equivalent sensitivity of 50 µ.fringe/√Hz is demonstrated.

Abstract

A fiber-remoted, non-contact, optical surface-vibrometer which uses no source wavelength modulation is reported. Three-phase fringe sampling using a 3 x 3 fiber coupler and processing using a digital processor allow automatic multi-fringe unwrapping, sub-fringe interpolation and insensitivity to interferogram intensity and contrast variations. A noise-equivalent sensitivity of 50 µ.fringe/√Hz is demonstrated.
