Description/Abstract

A fiber-remoted, non-contact, optical surface-vibrometer which uses no source wavelength modulation is reported. Three-phase fringe sampling using a 3 X 3 fiber coupler and processing using a digital processor allow automatic multi-fringe unwrapping, sub-fringe interpolation and insensitivity to interferogram intensity and contrast variations. A noise-equivalent sensitivity of 50 µ.fringe/root. Hz is demonstrated.
